  1. So sad to miss last week, but I’m here! This week I’m almost finished reading Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth which is an excellent memoir about a midwife/nurse in East London in the 1950s. Enjoying it immensely with happy and sad tears. 🙂

    • So glad you’re back! Seems like a lot of people were busy last week – it was the lowest week so far. Wonder what was going on or if it was a coincidence? Anyway, I’ve heard great things about that book but haven’t read it yet. I’ll definitely have to put it on my reading list!

  2. I’m a fan of Gutteridge, too. I don’t tend to like the ones she writes with someone else as much (the novelizations of screenplays especially). My favorites are the Occupational Hazards (they’re making Skid into a movie!), with the Boo series next, probably. I’ve not read the Doormat one yet, alas. I like her thrillers, too, but I mostly wish she’d write more funny ones! Good humor seems so rare (or at least hard to find).

    • I agree with everything you’ve said here. I think she totally shines at humor, but is a good writer regardless and does her best work alone. Have you found other good humor authors like her? I’d love a few new authors!
