Hello readers! It’s that time of the week again, when we share the books we’ve been enjoying! As always, I’m also open to any posts about helping others learn to read or improve their reading skills (including adults). Basically, anything literacy-related is fair game.
I read such a fun novella this week: Gentleman of Her Dreams($) by Jen Turano. I’m not usually a novella person as they tend to be too short to give me the kind of character development I enjoy, but this one was fantastic! Turano seems to have a gift for quickly developing loveable, quirky characters. I also don’t usually laugh out loud while I’m reading (because I’m usually nursing a sleeping baby when I get a chance to read), but this book had me holding in laughs until I was nearly snorting! Fortunately, I avoided waking the baby, but only just! Gentleman of Her Dreams($) is currently free for Kindle, and I highly recommend you hop over to Amazon and get it right now!
I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I went and bought the next book in the series, a full-length novel called A Change of Fortune($), for full price! I can count on one hand the times I’ve paid full price for a Kindle book, but I have no regrets this time. I’m about half-way through it, and it too is hilariously funny and just a really enjoyable read (think Jane Austen with a little tasteful slapstick in NYC!)
