I’ve never done this five-minute Friday thing before, but the girls and I thought we’d give it a try. They’re each working quietly at the table with a piece of paper for five minutes while I type. About the word “song.” (If you want to see their contributions, I’ll post them each week at Desperate Homeschoolers.
I’m always amazed at the power of song. Often, when I feel miserable, I have no desire to sing, but if I can make myself start, it is really startling how quickly I feel so much better. Even if I sing a minor, melancholy song that matches my mood at the beginning, I almost always feel so much better at the end. The book of Psalms really captures that power. David probably understood it better than anyone in history.
I love the verse from somewhere in Psalms, “Lord, you are my strength, and you also have become my Song.” May I rest and rejoice in the Lord, my Song, throughout this day and all that it will bring!
